Twin Cities Ballet of Minnesota proudly presents its annual full-length production of Denise Vogt’s The Nutcracker Ballet, December 9 – 11, 2011. An artistic collaboration unique in its breadth and scope, its large cast of approximately 120 consists of local and national professional dancers, metro area ballet students from at least eight dance schools, and community members. This original professional production of The Nutcracker ballet—the first and only in the Twin Cities south of the Minnesota River—has become a cherished holiday tradition for many, and is a joy for families and audiences of all ages, long time patrons and novices to ballet alike. Tickets for The Nutcracker go on sale to the public September 23, 2011.

In response to the over whelming success of its 2011 World Premiere, “Wizard of Oz—the Ballet” returns to BPAC in May 2012. TCB's Wizard of Oz is an all new, full-length production of the familiar classic tale, done in the tradition of the great classical story ballets. Duluth Festival Opera’s Pocahontas

Saturday, October 1 7:30pm

Tickets: Orchestra: Adults = $27/students & seniors $24; Balcony:  Adults $20/students & seniors $17

Commissioned for the 400th anniversary of Jamestown, VA, this hauntingly beautiful musical drama recounts the fascinating life of Pocahontas, the enigmatic Algonquian princess. Using the facts of history to tell her real story, some mistakenly compare this work to that of the popular Disney film of the same name, but there is no similarity. The opera is a work of imagination that celebrates her life, debunking the popular myths and half-truths that surround her name. This 90-minute music-theater piece was composed by Burnsville resident Linda Tutas Haugen and will be performed by the Duluth Festival Opera. The cast also includes Native American musicians and dancers and the production will be in English.
